"looking forward to..."

i don't like the phrase "looking forward to it." without getting into the semantics of time and if it's linear, it's still a bad cliche. if the future is forward (we're accepting that fact, otherwise it's an invalid statement) then you would have to be looking forward. you can not look into the past for an event. you can look into the past for a memory, but not an event. not a...fantasy, if you will.
